Miss matching by Dewi Dedew Rieka

This book is Miss Matching by Dewi Dedew Rieka. The book contains a collection of teenage short stories with themes of friendship, insecurity, love, social media, and everyday girls’ lives. The writing style is light and humorous, but some of the stories also have quite deep meanings. After read this book I interested with the chapter “And I See Your True Colour” is quite interesting and emotional. The story is about a younger sister who actually liked a man first, but the man ended up getting engaged to her older sister. Because of that, the younger sister feels sad, jealous, and wants to take the man away from her sister.

What makes this story interesting is that the emotional conflict feels realistic. Readers can understand why the main character feels disappointed, even though her actions are not completely right because they could hurt her own sister.

I think the message of this story is that not all feelings should be forced. Sometimes we have to learn to accept reality and think about other people’s feelings too. Besides that, jealousy can change someone and make them do the wrong thing.

The language in this story is simple and easy to understand, so it is enjoyable for teenagers to read. Even though the story is simple, the emotional conflict feels strong and makes readers curious until the end.
